JEWELRY BOX

One of the problems faced when producing an entirely compter generated film is that literally everything has to be build from scratch inside the computer. One such prop required for Departure was a jewelry box containing polished stones. The box had to be built to a high level of detail to enable it to be seen in extreme close-up, to be handled and opened by Jevetta, and for its stones to be individually removed.

Unlike other objects in the film, the jewelry box was based on a real object that was photographed from all angles, with these images then used as a guide in producing the polygon model show above right, and with the images also used to texture the model as show in the test render top left.
