"I COULD STAY HERE FOREVER"

Between late April and August 2005 production of the animation for Departure was in full-swing. One of Jevetta's lines in the film is "I could stay here forever", and during April to August it sometimes felt that Departure's six minutes of animation was going to take forever!

One of the things that people sometimes don't appreciate about the CG animation process is that what you work with when animating, and what appear in the final film, are very different. This is illustrated above with the same shot shown in wireframe as initially set up (top left); flat shade rendered without the background (top right); roughly textured in the LightWave [8] animation package (and as worked with during most of the animation process, bottom left), and as a final rendered frame (bottom right).
